Summary/Abstract: The subject of the research is the decision-making freedom understood as the space (field) of the decision-maker’s possibilities of action in the process of preparing and making decisions. The aim adopted in the article refers to the conceptualization of the essence of the decision-making freedom and the determinants shaping its scope. As a result of the literature study, the model of the decision-making freedom field was proposed. The presented model defines the space of decision-maker’s possibilities of action, which is determined by four complementary bundles of conditions, i.e. formal scope, information system, decision-maker’s competences, and social impact. The proposed concept of the decision-making freedom field requires further conceptualization and operationalization, so that ultimately it could become a tool for diagnosing and shaping the decision-making freedom in organizations.
