Summary/Abstract: Sport has become a social phenomenon of world dimensions, and once as sideshow thing in the world has today become the most profitable thing in the world. States and their governments are increasingly supporting and promoting sports and sporting events as part of their development strategy, as they benefit enormous. Sport and the sport industry is an important source of income and a significant factor of economic stability, because it contributes to the increase of foreign exchange inflows and the creation of new jobs. However, investing in sports besides the economic ones also has cultural, health and other effects on one nation. Sport is one of the most successful social areas in the Republic of Serbia, and by encouraging children, youth and adults to put sporting activities into the everyday life and culture of life in general, a great advantage is gained in terms of a healthier nation, and thus the positive economic effects as well as the development of a professional sport.
