Regional books and periodicals in the publishing agenda of the Voivodeship Public Library in Opole

Summary/Abstract: The publishing output of the Voivodeship Public Library in Opole of almost sixty years is characterised by considerable versatility both as far as the form of the publications and their subject matter is concerned. It embraces bibliographical, informative, advice-related, training-oriented publications, printed catalogues of collections and publications which accompany exhibitions, conferences and seminars. Many of the books which were published by the Opole-based publisher register current social, cultural, and in particular literary events of the Opole region. The publisher familiarises the reader with the history of the region by republishing rare Silesiana. The purpose of the article is to present the variety of the publishing activities of the WBP in Opole, the significance of the publications for the Opole region in earlier and in recent times by making reference to specific serial and non-serial publications.
