Summary/Abstract: The paper is going to distinguish, first, the concept of the musical philosophy from that of a philosophy of music. (The claim that the musical philosophy can be a different and specific area of musicology is defended in the recently published book [a collection of essays] of the same name, see: Musical Philosophy, Sofia: “Riva”, 2016). In contrast to the philosophy of music that takes music as an object of its research, the musical philosophy comprehends it in its largest sense. According to it music is neither art nor science – in any case not only these – but is a mode of human existing. As such, however, music can be seen in two ways. The first is elucidated as long ago as in 19th century by S. Kierkegaard. In line with it music is the pure immediacy deprived of the potentiality to “think”. The second is that inner potentiality of music for reflection, from the side of the one who lives in music, which paves the way for a musical-philosophical concern. It is just the second potentiality that the present paper aims to give proof of.
