Purpose and nature of the press criticism – selected aspects

Summary/Abstract: The main aim and meaning of journalistic activity is to providing information and use journalistic criticism as tool of social control. Journalistic activity is an important control mechanism that contributes to the proper functioning of democratic structures. Criticism of the press, although valuable and desirable, is not an absolute value. It has its limits, beyond which is an abuse of freedom of expression. Limitations for criticism of the press in abstracto is very difficult, but it is also necessary to protect other goods and values.
