THE RUSSIAN INTERVENTION IN SYRIA. ELEMENTS OF SOFT POWER

Summary/Abstract: While struggling to achieve power the Unites States and the Russian Federation find themselves on a close path, although their strategies seem to be relatively different. Moreover, Kremlin’s pursuit of power while trying to rehabilitate Russia’s role as a great power has made it build a strategy primarily focused on the Middle East. Moreover, Russia’s decision to intervene in the heated conflict in Syria carefully combined with its organized strategy to attract allies has positioned the Kremlin administration in opposition with the United States. Taking into considerations Moscow’s permanent interest in the Middle East region along with its current friendly approach toward Syria’s neighboring states leads us to believe that Russia is here to stay.
