Summary/Abstract: In the area of Cristeştii Ciceului (Pl. I/a), Uriu commune, in Bistriţa-NăsăudCounty, a series of archaeological discoveries have been reported that attest the existenceof some important archaeological sites. Following some pottery fragmentsdiscoveries made on the “Strada dascălilor” in the autumn of 2017, an archaeologicalsite known in the old bibliography, but without a certain location, was reidentified. This prehistoric settlement should be dated in the Wietenberg II-III period. In the courtyard of the Hordouan family, on the same street, a fragmentary limestonesemi-column (lorica) (Pl. II/b-d) from the roman period was identified and fromthe garden of the household, lots of roman pottery fragments were collected (Pl. IV/6;V/1–4). This would signal that in this are a settlement might be located (Pl. II/a).Also, a roman spearhead from the local school museum collection (Pl. III/a-b) is beingdiscussed. These discoveries that cannot be dated closer than the 2nd–3rd century A.D.,indicate a rather intense economic life in the area, favored by the Roman road to theRoman auxiliary fort of Ilişua from Căşeiu.
