Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the results of research – conducted among the students of one of Szczecin’s universities – concerning about the circumstances for constructing knowledge about themselves in a higher school. The period of higher education, because the opportunities of development of young people and the potential multiplication of incentives in the university environment, may constitute favorable conditions for students to acquire knowledge about themselves in the process of self- knowledge. Academic education should promote not only vocational education and acquiring knowledge about world, but also getting to know ourselves. It is the basis of our conscious activity in the world and our relationship with other people, and, as well, is a requirement for personal development of every human being.
