Summary/Abstract: Not everything what is currently happening at the point of contact among politics, political culture and academic youth can explain the defectiveness of young democracy. The diagnosis of Polish society indicates low involvement level in sociopolitical life, and thus a poor condition of democracy in Poland. It is a sufficient reason to undertake interdisciplinary explanatory research on decision and behaviour causes, resulting in lack of activity in particular of students of higher education institutions. Assuming that, the participation in elections is fundamental for democracy and thereby citizens ensure themselves the right to consciously codecide about their future, It becomes clear, that the mission of higher education institutions is to explain the world, provide education of tolerant attitude towards other’s opinions and, foremost, to shape the culture of dialogue – related to the ability of expressing views and beliefs.While analysing the participations of students in elections and seeking for reasons of their dilemmas, the question of whether and what is the position of higher education institutions in the dialogue about politics.
