Summary/Abstract: Cantemir was thirsty for knowledge. But he is not simply a devotee of literature, historical documents and information. He is actually a seeker, a creator, a man with a thirst for "faustic knowledge" that far exceeds the boundaries of medieval culture and even those of his time. Cantemir is not an avant-garde of the era of the end of the Middle Ages, but a conscious, courageous and migratory constructor of universal time, a profound and expansive thinker far beyond the margins of his time. He is a scholar who uses the "endless glass of all science" to know and understand the world and its horizons in a time of great embarrassment, of conflicts and wars, and of great openings to knowledge.
