Multicultural Citizenship Perception and Awareness of the Students with Different Cultural Values

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to measure the multicultural citizenship perceptions and awareness of students in multicultural citizenship education. Due to this reason descriptive model is used to represent existing situation. Mardin was selected as the universe of the study and the sample is consisted of 818 8th graders from both the center and districts of Mardin in 2012-2013 education year. To measure students’ multicultural citizenship perceptions and their awareness, a perception and awareness scale was used which was constituted of both 28 items and a personal information section. When we looked at the views of the students it was seen that their multicultural citizenship perceptions and awareness were in high levels and it was passed to them with their family traditions.
