Summary/Abstract: The following article aims to problematize the way in which tradi¬tional quantitative and qualitative methods of social and demographic studies of ethnic minorities in Bulgaria contribute to the construction of notions that are not always adequate enough and do not deeply reflect the complexity of the social world in which these groups are submerged. As a consequence of this, the article will present the argument for the need to “kill method”. Furthermore, an alternative activist-oriented ethnographic methodology that has been adopted in the quarter of Stolipinovo in Plovdiv will be presented. It has been created in view of the specifics of the neighbourhood and taking into account the heterogeneous and non-static nature of the everyday life in it. Hence, as a result will be noted the need to develop a specific sociology of drift that may adequately take into ac¬count the challenges faced by local residents.
