Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage the paper outlines the importance of knowledge and skills in the field of conservation and socialization of cultural heritage. The shortage of specialists is problematic, especially when it comes to handling unique library and archive collections.A possible solution to this problem is to adopt a process of validation of knowledge, skills and competences, acquired by vocational training.
