Summary/Abstract: The history of the European continent is strongly influenced by migratory processes. Nevertheless, the present attitudes towards recent migration processes are quite negative – 56% of European citizens of all Member States do not want third countries migrants in Europe. Bulgarians are even more categorical – 77% of their opinions are negative, favorable opinions are only 15%.Whether we will judge refugees and other people with migrant background as dangerous and unnecessary or will mobilize efforts to integrate them is a matter of both the present and the future of Europe.Obstacles and challenges for the successful integration of people with migrant background in Europe could be found in different areas and dimentions. This article analyzes the situation and presents the opportunities offered by EU in the area of migrants’ education and preparation for the adequate participation in the labour market.
