Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the cognitive flexibility levels of prospective teachers for gifted students in terms of different variables (gender, class level, parental job, etc.). A purposeful sampling approach is used to collect data based on survey method. A total of 154 prospective teachers voluntarily participated in the current study. All the participants were enrolled in the undergraduate program of Teacher Training for Gifted Students in a state university in Istanbul for the 2015-2016 academic year. The data were collected using the personal information form and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory developed by Dennis and Vander Wal (2010) and adapted by Sapmaz and Doğan (2013). Frequency analysis, independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used in the analysis of the data. The findings show that cognitive flexibility mean scores of the sample are relatively high. In terms of gender and grade level, there are no significant differences between the scale mean scores. There were significant differences in scale mean scores in terms of parents’ job and place of residence. The findings and implications of the study are expected to contribute to the relevant literature.
