Summary/Abstract: The integral objective of any company, irrespective of size or type of the conducted business activities, is survival and growth. To increase the chances to achieve this objective, the condition may be conducive which gives the feeling of certainty of existence and guarantee of its continuation, which means safety of the enterprise. Pursuing the objective of the company is also correlated with its ethical image, determined with, among others, acceptance of the activities of the company from the ethical standpoint. Ethics of business is the basis for initiation of activities which are referred to as corporate social responsibility (CSR). Both in business practice and in the literature, interest is on the increase in the CSR concept of conscious action focused not only on economic aspects (e.g. profit), but also on social and ecological aspects. From the point of view of management, social responsibility must be an integral element of the management strategy to become effective. The companies which indeed want to behave socially responsible are expected to introduce such formal solutions to the company system which form permanent grounds for ethical activities. This may be done with various methods and tools. The code of ethics is one of them. The code of ethics is aimed at regulation of activities of the internal structures of an enterprise, it defi nes the assumptions of the corporate culture of the company, and it introduces a certain standard of providing services. Its normative and preventive nature may contribute to the increase of security of the enterprise.
