Summary/Abstract: In the period before the Second World War, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there were over 70% of the illiterate population. Illiteracy was particularly high in the countryside, primarily due to lack of schools in a large number of villages, but also due to patriarchal relations and the interests of the authorities. During the war, the situation worsened even further, so after the liberation Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular, and the entire Yugoslavia was faced with a disproportionately large number of illiterate people. The literacy process of the population took place intensively in the period of Reconstruction. Alongside the renewal of the war-ravaged economy and infrastructure, the literacy of the population also worked. It was the first step in a comprehensive process of national enlightenment, a precondition and interest in involving the population in the country’s socio-political life. In this paper we will follow the literacy process of the population in northeastern Bosnia, that is, mainly in the area that was in the period 1945-1947. year included the District of Tuzla. The simplest and fastest way for the population to be literate was by organizing analytical courses. We will explain the method of setting up and running courses, and will provide information on the number, leaders, students and results of the work of analytical courses in the area of northeastern Bosnia. Special emphasis will be placed on the results of literacy presented throughstate and party, regional and local statistical data, and the Population Census in Bosnia and Herzegovina from March 15, 1948.
