Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author presents data about construction of the Doboj-Simin Han railway, which began on May 1st 1885. The construction of the railway had proved itself to be an essential part of industrialization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing its greatest impact to Tuzla and surrounding area that already exhibited a high level of development of its mining, lumber and farming industries. Lack of a good road connection for the region was to be compensated for by a railway link which was a more efficient and cost-effective way of transporting industrial products. The paper describes great effort by Béni Kállay who sought funding and support from the Empire, as well as construction of the railway and Musala train station in Tuzla. Ceremony which marked the end of construction was held on April 28th 1886 and attended by Béni Kállay himself, while it was opened for traffic the following day. During its lifetime the railway played a substantial part in the industrial and cultural development of North-East Bosnia.
