SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING ACTIVITY OF THE ARCHIVE OF TUZLA CANTON

Summary/Abstract: Archives are institutions that care about the protection of writtencultural and historical heritage and historical sources, whose important worksegment is scientific research and publishing. This segment of the work of thearchive is very important because it brings the users and the general public closerto the cultural and historical values that archive the heritage, which are extremelyvaluable cultural heritage and historical resources. The diverse archival material stored in the archives depots is of various provenances and presents authentic historical sources, which contain important information in almost all areas of scientific research. Scientific research and publishing activity of an archive is a very important segment of the work of each archive, and that is the case with the Archive ofthe Tuzla Canton. In spite of the fact that since its foundation until today, it hasnever had the appropriate personnel structure, the Archive in Tuzla neverthelessconsistently dealt with this issue, especially in the second half of its existence.The aim of this paper is to give a brief overview of the development ofscientific research and publishing activities of the Tuzla Canton Archives since itsfoundation up until 2018. On the basis of concrete examples of scientific researchand published publications of the Archive, the author will try to point out thesignificance of the same in the development of archival activities at the local andnational level, as well as in the realization of cooperation, both among archivesand with other scientific and cultural institutions.
