Summary/Abstract: The problem of archival legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the problems of the archival profession that involves many issues regardin the archival service in the country and caused many problems in working with archival materials. As a particular issue that stands out is inadequate legislation and lack of appropriate implementing regulations governing the processes for sorting and processing of archival materials. Disunited and under-developed legal regulations on many crucial issues is one of the main brakes for the progress of archival service in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Legislation which deals with processing and sorting is entirely absent. It is obvious that there is a need to develop new rules that would of course be professionally appropriate, accompanied by modern archival trends and he agreed with archival legislation of the country, but also with international archival standards. You need to run an initiative and do everything necessary for the adoption of new bylaws and implementing regulations that would be a valid way to resolve this issue, of course, preferably at the state level. And of course there is a need to formulate national standards for archival service, which will certainly take into account international developments for individual professional actions and activities.
