Summary/Abstract: The Adult Baby and Diaper Lover (ABDL) group is an internet community of persons that use diapers and/or display infantile behaviors out of psychological reasons and in order to achieve sexual satisfaction. Although there are premises that the prevalence of such behavior is higher than it had been expected, the scientific interest in this field has not been very high so far. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychological characteristics of persons from ABDL group. A survey among 29 members of an internet ABDL forum was conducted. The results were subsequently compared with an adequate control group. The survey consisted of the Acker&Davis Scale (Acker and Davis, 1992) and original statements and questions concerning homosexual persons and specific ABDL behaviors. Specific behaviors concerning using diapers out of psychological reasons and/or infantile behaviors were the source of sexual arousal to the majority of the participants (55%). Persons from the ABDL group define themselves as nonheterosexual more often than persons from the control group (X2 = 9.1; df = 2, p = 0.011), however, both groups present similar attitude towards homosexual persons (p > 0.05). Persons from the ABDL group were less sure of the durability of their current close relationship (Z = −2.15, p = 0.031). Differences concerning sexual identity were observed, however, the groups did not vary in selected social attitudes. The results may also suggest that persons identifying themselves as ABDL present a rather homogenous type of assessment of romantic relationships. Due to the methodological limitations of the study, the results and conclusions must be confirmed in subsequent studies.
