Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to determine which factors contribute to the popularity of the “Kronika Miasta Łodzi” outside Poland in 2015. The publication is divided into two parts. The first one is characteristics of the magazine and shows its history. The second is an attempt to identify factors which influence on the popularity of this periodical. The cognitive and pragmatic aspects of the journalistic discourse were used for this purpose. Subject of the study are profiles and popular science articles which are an integral and most representative part of every edition of “Kronika”.
