Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the teaching of note-taking for the purposes of consecutive interpreting. It describes basic characteristics of note-taking, using of symbols, abbreviations and shifts and expression of negation and emphasis in note-taking. The author underlines the importance and necessity of developing an efficient individual note-taking system in an introductory note-taking course which should be separated from consecutive interpreting. At the end of the article there is an illustrative example of letter symbols.
