Trends in the demographic development of the Republic of Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: The notion "ethnic Macedonians" appeared after 1944. None of the statistics before this period mentions the existence of such a group and its representatives were considered Bulgarians. The census shows that while in 1994 compared to 1948 the population of the Republic of Macedonia as a whole increased with 169%, the increase with the "ethnic Macedonians" is 164%. At the same time the increase with the Albanian ethnos is 223%, and compared to 1953 - 271%.
