Summary/Abstract: Our paper aims to focus on comparative analysis of governance and organi-sational structures of large enterprise groups in Japan, the Czech Republic (CR) and the Slovak Republic (SR). We would like to identify different and similar features of governance and organisational structures between Japan and the two Central European countries. Since there are many various and contradictory streams and tendencies in development of governance models in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, we try to put emphasis especially on the situation existing in mid-90s. Using Japanese model as a benchmark for our analysis and other ana-lytical tools for identification of patterns of various structures and activities, we try to present a better picture to what extent the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic move toward or from the Japanese model. For our analysis we have selected the biggest firms in all three countries. Four companies from Top 100 industrial companies lists have been selected and com-pared. We have used both our own research results and many other theoretical and empirical studies and data from all the countries analysed.
