Summary/Abstract: In the following paper, I shall be presenting a series of five connected theses which, taken together, represent a potential programme of research. It is not possible within the restricted compass of this short paper to argue fully for the theses or the overall connection posited between them, much less support the whole with the sort of detailed evidence that a properly convincing demonstration demands. The best that can be hoped for is a coherent presentation of the main points and how they may possibly be connected. This article is therefore simply an attempt to outline a potential argument and way of approaching the material, rather than a demonstration of that argument.
