ARE ALL ANTHROPOLOGISTS (STILL) LITERARY WRITERS?

Summary/Abstract: In the past two decades anthropology faced serious debates about relations between fictional and anthropological writing. Roughly, two main general concepts regarding the question of anthropology — fiction relation can be recognized. First approach, which is mainly connected with the emergence of poststructuralism, emphasizes textual character of ethnographies treating them as some kind of fiction questioning anthropologists' ability to validly represent reality. In the second approach, fiction is seen as a different writing form from ethnographic mode of textual representation and, although epistemological question remained unsolved, the main difference between the two is made on ethical principle of authors' intentions to accurately represented what he/she saw.
