Summary/Abstract: The article presents the position of Leszek Kolakowski on the need for the presence of philosophy in education. Although Leszek Kolakowski didn’t create any system of philosophy of education, nor was the author of pedagogical textbooks, he devoted much space in his works to philosophical question of educating the younger generation. For the success of the educational process he considered the following factors: the role of authority, self‑improvement and self‑development of man, and the influence of the environment, within which the upbringing takes place. In the face of an observable crisis of the educational system which was applied to the younger generation, his demands can be the basis for the efforts of its reform.
