Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes Pavle Popovic’s concepts of Serbian and Yugoslavian literature, as presented in the literary historical studies Survey of Serbian Literature (1909), Yugoslavian Literature (1918), „Yugoslavian literature in whole” (1922) and La literature Yougoslave (1930). The aim of this paper is to show that Popovic’s concepts of Serbian and Yugoslavian literature were dependent on his general views on literary history, broad cultural pressupositions, understanding of national identity (Serbian and Yugoslavian) and state policy.
