Summary/Abstract: In the first part of his article, the author reviews linguistics studies of words denoting soul (A. Wierzbicka, R. Grzegorczykowa, S. Tolstaya, L. Vinogradova, etc.) as well as contrastive studies of phraseological units with such words in Russian and Serbian (O. Belenkaya, N. Bragina, M. Jaran) and Ukrainian and Serbian (D. Ajdačić, L. Ne- pop-Ajdačić), and also studies of colloquial expressions and phraseological units with that word in Serbian (S. Ristić, E. Koncewicz-Dziduch, O. Antonova) and other Slavic languages (N. Bragina, A. Vasileva, O. Kryžko). Author establishes attributes and features of the soul as represented by the phraseological worldview on the basis of language’s answers to such questions as where is soul located, what does it look like and what is the relationship between soul, body, heart and other organs. In the second part, he shows the range of meanings phraseological units with the said components convey, these meanings concerning human character, feelings, vital strength (in particular, borderline between death and life), relationships between people, and essence of something. The author analyzes correspondences between Serbian and other Slavic phraseological units of this kind, .their equivalence and non-equivalence indicative of the treatment of the concept of soul by the phraseological worldview of these languages.
