Summary/Abstract: The of the article entitled Lexical Elements of ForeignOrigin in German as Linguistic Means of Building a Sense of Humour subjects to analysis lexical elements of foreign origin present in the selected German sketches and their function as linguistic means of building a sense of humor. There are two crucial questions here – a question of the role of lexical elements of foreign origin in humorous texts and a question of the impact of knowledge of lexis of foreign origin on the correct interpretation, which is expected by the authors of a joke. The phenomenon of lack of knowledge of the meanings of those words becomes the leitmotif of the joke, however, mostly women are presented in the role of ridiculed people.
