Summary/Abstract: The article shows the necessity for integrating grammatical variants. This study focuses on the specificity of metaphor in media discourse. Metaphor has specific features and functions in modern Russian media texts. Quantitative and qualitative parameters of metaphors, predominance of one or another metaphorical model (or set of models) serve as a measure of the level of consciousness and the state of society. The syncretism of metaphor as a way of con¬ceptualizing the world and the conditionality of metaphor of mental activity create an opportunity of metaphor to represent one or another linguistic-cultural situation.
