The Problems Of Establishing A Sociology Of Orthodoxy

Summary/Abstract: This work deals with the basic methodological, epistemological and ontological problems in establishing a sociology of orthodoxy. Orthodoxy is in its ontological dis- course turned to contemplation - the inner side of human existence. Therefore, the Orthodox view of the world is an anthropological, not a social one. Therefore, Sociology of Orthodoxy does not obtain its subject of research directly, through the Orthodox ideas, norms or values, yet trough indirect approach. Development of Sociology of Orthodoxy is directly connected with the construction of the social teachings of the Orthodox Church, hence its importance is immense.
