Summary/Abstract: Every experience we undergo leaves a trace in our life. Museums offer an opportunity to expose children to experience and explore new objects in a rich and educational environment. In the museum, children experience the world through material representations. The purpose of the present paper was to obtain a further understanding of planning an effective museum experience process. Planning a Museum Visit consists of several steps or phases – before the visit, during the visit and after the visit -. This study is an attempt to discuss the meaning and functions of museum and describe the learning process during the museum visits. This article can be thought of as a review of the literature on the place of museum-experience in childhood education. According to this review, studies on museum experience with paticular focus on childhood education have shown some important results. The salient findings of this study revealed that museum as an educational environment and experiences of children in a museum play a highly sensitive and important role in helping children develop their skills in relation to the observation, critical thinking, deduction, creativity etc.
