Summary/Abstract: The Role of Museum “Participatory Culture” in Developing History TeachersThis paper is devoted to a relatively new phenomenon in the cultural life ofRussia – a participatory culture. The authors examine this phenomenon of participatory culturethrough the lens of the present-day museum: a new content of museums enables the development of anew culture in visitors, at the same time changing the vector of museum communications. Thispublication describes empirical efforts to expand professional and general culture competencies offuture school history teachers by using the participatory culture of students in the museum practice.Proactive cooperation with the museum contributes to a comprehensive development of the teacher’spersonality in an unconventional educational environment through personally and sociallymeaningful participation of history students in the museum events. Subjective nature of relations inthe museum environment within the scope of participatory culture involves the initiation of theseevents, visitors and students.
