Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the problem of improving the quality of training in mathematics at higher education institutions of economics. Review of studies on the problem showsthere are difficulties in solving it, the main causes of difficulties being the generally low level ofstudents' mathematical training, reduction of hours for studying mathematics, and difficulties inpractical implementation of consistency between mathematical and special subjects at economic highereducation institutions. The author believes applied mathematical subjects and methods of teachingrelying on interdisciplinary connections can be the solution to the problem. Applied mathematicalsubjects actually continue the students of economics' education in mathematics, which promotes theimprovement of their mathematical training.
