Summary/Abstract: The local goddess Larmene, who is called in dedicatory inscriptions as Yeå LarmhnÆ (Mother Goddess Larmene), MÆthr LarmhnÆ (Mother Larmene), Megãlh MÆthr (Great Mother), MÆthr ye«n LarmhnÆ, (Mother of Gods), is one of the major local goddesses worshipped in Northeast Lydia. The Sanctuary of the Mother Goddess Larmene is located on Toma Mountain, south of the city of Saittai. Frequent surveys in the region and a rescue excavation dating back to 1995 provided significant insight into Larmene’s sanctuary and her cult. This study presents a review on the primary finds that provide information on what we know about this local cult and the sanctuary.
