Summary/Abstract: The article provides an overview of the situation regarding incidence of suicides in Poland. It first discusses the links between suicide rate and mental health of population. Next, the author provides statistical data on suicide attempts in Europe, which show, inter alia, that Poland is among top 10 countries with the highest suicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants. She also offers information on suicides in Poland broken down by sex, age, as well as the major reasons of committing them according to the police.
