Summary/Abstract: From the interpretations of the consumer concept that the CJEU has had the opportunity to express on numerous occasions, a portrait of the European consumer can easily be achieved. First of all, it should be emphasized that the CJEU case law reaffirms a principle of consumer law: the prerequisite for being in the presence of a legal relation to the right of consumption is the antinomic quality of the subjects of this legal relationship, namely the qualities of being a consumer and a professional. Then, in line with the normative configuration of this notion, first of all, two main features characterizing this notion, which confer it unity at the same time, can be noted: the quality of the natural person of being a consumer and the extra-professional purpose of contracting.
