Summary/Abstract: In the article the main features of the educational environment, which constitute the backgroundof the teacher-student relation, have been distinguished. Additionally, an attempt has beenmade to apply main lines of transactional analysis for the exploration of the roles of the teacher, aswell as their significance in the teacher-student relation and effectiveness of educational actions.Such roles as educational and formative, through which the basic tasks included in educationalgoals are realised, have been indicated. Thus, the article concentrates on the following roles of theteacher: counsellor, mentor, coach, partner, student, this woman/this man. The teacher’s inter-andintrapersonal relations were analyzed in relation to the structural analysis of personality.
