Summary/Abstract: In this article are viewed the relationship between two systems in communication in deaf children – speechreading and reading in which decoding of a verbal signal is performed through the visual sensory channel. To find correlations between two processes, 40 children with impaired hearing were tested. The results of this study indicated that there is a significant relationship between speechreading and reading skills.
