Summary/Abstract: In Per Isabel. Un Mandala Tabucchi has completed the trilogy of disquiet, of remorse and reflection of modern authors along with Requiem and Notturno indiano, internalizing oriental contents in more capillary manner, proposing unique combinations with Western philosophy as well as existential literary solutions. In Per Isabel. Un Mandala, in particular, the author’s reflection focuses on characters who confront themselves with the inner pain seeking the truth through which one can then be ‘cured’ by this ontological suffering. But since such a process takes place within a literary space, it is essential, according to Tabucchi that the readers, to tap into the hidden truth (that is, to deal with one’s true self) undertake, within the narrative text, a real journey, the goal of which will be the attainment of Nirvana. So that in this context map to be the works of Tabucchi can be read as a mandala, or a kind of conceptual and literary map to be offered to readers as a guide to enlightenment.
