Translation techniques of mining terminology in guide books on Wieliczka Salt Mine

Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with the analysis of the texts of Wieliczka Salt Mine guidebooks and discusses the problems of their translation. They are mostly related to the presence of specialist terminology, above all from the field of mining techniques and geology. There are also many culture specific terms or ones that describe a phenomenon specific to that particular place, which do not have equivalents in other languages. The article presents possible translation techniques, taking into account also the recipient of the text.
