Summary/Abstract: Pier Marco Bertinetto theorizes the possibility of using the Italian pluperfect as an aoristic tense, endowed with propulsive capacities in accordance with the aoristic drift theory. The purpose of this paper is to provide a possibility of a different interpretation of this question and to analyze, whether it is possible to find the point of reference of the pluperfect, even when it’s used to push forward the thread of discourse.
