The metaphorical conceptualization of emotions in the Italian language

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse the metaphorical means offered by the Italian language in the framework of the verbalization of emotions. The Author intends to carry out this analysis by resorting to cognitive theory of metaphor of Lakoff and Johnson. The corpus consists of conventional metaphorical resources available in Italian monolingual dictionaries. Specifically, the Author tries to establish the emotional conceptualization in Italian, in particular source domains used, possible limits to the conceptualization, and on this background to describe language picture of the emotions in Italian language.
