Summary/Abstract: One of the features characterising the legal language is the use of impersonal verb forms, such as adjectival and adverbial participles and the infinitive. This paper is devoted to a preliminary description of the adjectival participle (participio presente) in a contrastive Italian-Polish approach with special emphasis on the use in the legal language. The analysis focusses around aspects related to the use of participial forms in word formation, i.e. in order to form so-called nomina agentis denoting participants in legal proceedings in Italian and their Polish terminological equivalents.
