Summary/Abstract: The significance of the problem is due to the Federal State Educational Stantard of higher education implementation in the field of Pedagogical Education. The aim of the article is to attract High School teachers‘ attention to modern children literature as an effective way of preparing a future teacher to teaching activities. The leading methods of studying the question of including writings for children and about children into the curriculum during the period of preparation for the teaching practice are studying the psychological-and-pedagogical and methodical literature, normative and legal documents, selection and analysis of literary texts and pedagogical experiment. The article shows the effectiveness of the use of modern children‘s literature in training a future teacher by the example of works of small genres. Special attention is paid to forming the students‘ psychological readiness for specific educational activities in the implementation of Federal State Educational Standard of basic General education. The algorithm of pedagogical analysis of a literary text as one of the methods of forming the professional competences is developed.
