Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the category of deprofessionalization with regard to journalism practices. The article suggests that deprofessionalization together with professionalism establish the professional journalistic project and are also manipulated by the subject, controlling the professional logic. In this sense, deprofessionalization tendencies could achieve positive or negative dimensions depending on the objectives being followed by the institution directing the manifestations of professionalism. Various types of deprofessionalization practices have been discussed, which are typical for the news domain, and the focus is on the relationship journalism - citizen journalism and the resulting deprofessionalization effects.
