Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to use several examples in order to reconstruct the role of banks in the development of industry during the Austro-Hungarian administration. The timeframe of four decades overlaps with the fact that industry began to develop intensively in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time. The aim of this paper is to analyze how and in which branches of industry banks left the biggest trace. On the basis of literature and archival sources, the author concludes that the banks gave the biggest contribution to those branches of the industry which were based on domestic natural resources.
