Summary/Abstract: This article is an analysis of the activist methodology in anthropology based on literature and my research experience. I argue that activist anthropology differs from other methodological approaches in anthropology as the knowledge produced in the research process is useful for the community involved in it. Also, the aim of the research is to boost social change. I also present how the nature of a subject and an object of research, and also the relationship between them change in the paradigm of activist ethnography. The research subjects are in this case both the researcher and the activists or other social actors interested in participating in the research process. To make it possible it must be assumed that knowledge is produced in a decentralized, democratic way, that is, that all engaged actors produce equally valuable knowledge. In the context of activist research, the object of research also has a specific character. It is negotiated by the subjects involved in the study.
